Studies have showed that women who ate more than two portions a day of low fat dairy foods were 85 per cent more likely to be infertile due to ovulatory disorders. A woman will become fat easily when she has ovulatory disorder. Women who ate full-fat dairy foods, including ice cream, more than once per day had a 25 per cent reduced risk of infertility.

According to a Dr Chavarro, women who are trying to conceive, should change their diet for a while. Once they have become pregnant, then they should probably switch back to low-fat dairy foods as it is easier to limit intake of saturated fat by consuming low-fat dairy foods. Low fat dairy products include skim or low-fat milk, sherbet, yogurt, and cottage cheese. High fat dairy products include whole milk, cream, sour cream, ice cream, cream cheese, other cheese, and butter.

On the other hand, research has found that women who consumed a lot of low-fat dairy foods had a significantly lower risk of breast cancer than did women who rarely ate low-fat dairy foods. Specifically, women who consumed mostly skim milk and other low-fat dairy foods were 30% less likely to develop breast cancer than women who consumed the smallest amounts of these foods.

Saturated fat, trans-fatty acids and dietary cholesterol contribute to blood cholesterol whereas monounsaturated fats and polyunsaturated fats don't. Saturated fat is found mostly in foods from animals and some plants include butter, coconut oil, and palm oil. Monounsaturated fats are olive and peanut oil. Polyunsaturated fats are sesame seeds, sunflower seeds and corn.
